Stuart McLanaghan, Founder – eden21 is a sustainability professional with 18 years’ executive experience advancing sustainability for major public / private clients, including the UK Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office. A core member of a small team writing BS 8001 – the world’s first circular economy standard. Stuart jointly developed and delivered training courses for BSI to the Welsh Government, to support businesses progress sustainable operating practices.

A BBC Food Hero, he operationally directed an award winning ethical wild food business, developing ‘fells to plate’ traceability for Waitrose. Via sister company – fish21, Stuart is leading recreational fishing initiatives to implement the UN’s Global Goals and, as a Global Ghost Gear Initiative partner, solutions to discarded fishing gear. He has a PhD in environmental management, Imperial College and is a Fellow, Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment.

What in a name? eden21 was founded in Cumbria’s Eden Valley. The ’21’ denotes our central business remit: focusing on sustainable resource management. The logo’s ‘wheel’ theme – comprising multiple uses of the letter ‘e’ – reflects our sustainability values around the circular economy.
